The Most Valuable Player on All 30 NHL Teams
March 7th 2011 21:55
Anaheim Ducks: C Ryan Getzlaf-The Ducks captain is one of the best power forwards in the game.
Boston Bruins: G Tim Thomas-He may be unorthodox, but his acrobatic saves are fun to watch.
Buffalo Sabres: G Ryan Miller-He was unstoppable for Team USA in the olympics last year and he's starting to regain his form.
Calgary Flames: RW Jarome Iginla-He continues to be the driving force behind the Flames playoff push.
Carolina Hurricanes: C Eric Staal-The Hurricanes offense would be completely lost without the leadership of Staal.
Chicago Blackhawks: C Jonathan Toews-Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith, and Patrick Sharp are all acceptable choices here, but the defensive play and leadership of Toews are what set him apart.
Colorado Avalanche: C Matt Duchene-For a team that has completely blown its season apart, Duchene remains a rare bright spot and has untapped potential.
Columbus Blue Jackets: RW Rick Nash-The power forward is an obvious choice for the Jackets.
Dallas Stars: C Brad Richards-Though Brad Richard's name was thrown into numerous trade rumors at the deadline, the Stars knew his offense couldn't be replaced.
Edmonton Oilers: RW Ales Hemsky-With Taylor Hall injured for the season and Dustin Penner traded, the highly skilled yet inconsistent Hemsky is Edmonton's primary threat.
Florida Panthers: LW David Booth-It is hard to pass on Tomas Vokoun here, but Booth has game changing speed and skill.
Los Angeles Kings: C Anze Kopitar-The Kings have a lot of talent, but their offense thrives on #1 center Kopitar.
Minnesota Wild: C Mikko Koivu-Koivu is one of the league's best two way forwards.
Montreal Canadiens: G Carey Price-No one has been more valuable to Montreal this year.
Nashville Predators: D Shea Weber-The big defenseman can log huge minutes and play in all circumstances.
New Jersey Devils: LW Ilya Kovalchuk-The overpaid winger had a terrible start to his Devil's career, but he has been their best player during an improbable playoff push.
New York Islanders: C John Tavares-Tavares is the most crucial component of the Islanders rebuilding process (honorable mention to Mark Streit, who has been injured all season).
New York Rangers: G Henrik Lundqvist-The NHL's league leader in shutouts has been the team's MVP all season; Marian Gaborik is too prone to injury to be considered here.
Ottawa Senators: RW Daniel Afredsson-It's been a terrible year for the Senators, but they held on to Alfredsson, who is valuable on and off the ice.
Philadelphia Flyers: RW Claude Giroux-They have an all star lineup, but Giroux has developed into one of the league's best setup men.
Phoenix Coyotes: G Ilya Bryzgalov-He has brought this team back into contention; if only their defense was more consistent.
Pittsburgh Penguins: C Sidney Crosby-Pittsburgh is beginning to falter without the leadership and scoring prowess of the injured Crosby.
San Jose Sharks: C Joe Thornton-Dan Boyle and Antti Niemi have been great this year, but Thornton remains as one of the game's top assist men.
St. Louis Blues: RW David Backes-He is not only a capable scorer, he also plays with a lot of grit and can drop the gloves with the best of them.
Tampa Bay Lightning: C Steven Stamkos-Possibly the NHL's best player, Stamkos continues to light the lamp on the powerplay even when everyone and their grandmother knows what's coming.
Toronto Maple Leafs: D Dion Phaneuf-There isn't a whole lot of game changing talent on the Leafs, but Phaneuf is their MVP for his physicality and intimidation factor.
Vancouver Canucks: C/LW Henrik/Daniel Sedin-It really is impossible to choose between the twins, who are leading the Canucks to the top of the league; the real question is how would they perform without each other.
Washington Capitals: LW Alex Ovechkin-Even in an "off year" the most explosive hockey player in the world has cracked the NHL's top ten in points.
